Giulio Canti

Author of fp-ts (11.5k stars, MIT), the library that brought Haskell-style type classes and higher-kinded abstraction to typescript by way of the encoding in lightweight-hkt. Per the repository’s own notice, he has joined the Effect organization as fp-ts merges into effect.

The pattern is the one jeaye-wilkerson shows from the other side. Both are individuals who built a language-shaped project outside a company or foundation; Wilkerson’s jank stayed independent on community sponsorship, while Canti’s work has been absorbed into a funded company’s ecosystem (Effectful Technologies Inc.). Two endings for the same starting position, and this spoke now holds both — relevant to language-governance, where the open question has been what happens when a steward’s interest or funding changes.
