Tinybird

A managed ClickHouse platform with an API serving layer — the managed-service position on the analytical-databases spectrum. Tinybird runs ClickHouse for you (handling shard placement, replication, and query routing without cluster configuration) and adds a layer to publish queries as APIs for real-time analytics (tinybird-clickhouse-vs-duckdb).

What it is

The pitch is to remove the operational burden of self-managed ClickHouse clusters — the tuning and replica management that are ClickHouse’s main cost (clickhouse) — so teams get distributed analytics plus predictable low-latency APIs without running the infrastructure. Positioned for APIs, multi-user concurrency, and serving from streaming data.

Source caveat

Tinybird is the vendor behind the founding comparison tinybird-clickhouse-vs-duckdb, which is a marketing piece (T3): it favors ClickHouse for production and lands on “use Tinybird to skip the ops,” with sign-up CTAs. So its framing of the clickhouse/duckdb trade-off should be weighed against independent accounts like posthog-duckdb-vs-clickhouse (which doesn’t use Tinybird). No independent source on Tinybird itself is ingested yet — a gap to fill.
