What is funded
NIS 70 million (~$23.3M) from the israel-innovation-authority for a pre-competitive consortium on AI for biological research, drug discovery and personalised medicine. Partners: NVIDIA, Teva, Sheba Medical Center, CytoReason, TerraCyte Analytics, MeMed; the Weizmann Institute (Eran Segal, Nir Yosef), the Technion (Shai Shen-Orr) and Ben-Gurion University (Assaf Zaritsky). Duration not stated.
The two deliverables
- Bio Tokens — a unified representation for heterogeneous biological data: molecular, cellular, dynamic, clinical — "the ability to represent, process, and integrate complex, multi-modal, and dynamic biological data."
- Factory Model — a platform for building, integrating, running and sharing AI-based biological models.
Read together they are the infrastructure for a biological-foundation-model: a tokeniser for biology and a place to train over it. That is the layer beneath results like autism-protein-interaction-map, where AlphaFold is used as a finished instrument.
Boundary note
The government-funded, national-strategy framing brushes ai-governance-wiki, which pages the israel-innovation-authority as a strategy publisher; the substance here is R&D infrastructure, so it lives in this spoke and links across.
Tier T3 — trade-press report of a funding announcement; no independent detail.
