Single-cell multiomics

Measuring several molecular layers — gene expression, chromatin accessibility or modification, and three-dimensional genome contacts — in the same individual cells, so that regulation can be tied to cell type and to the folding of the genome rather than averaged over a tissue. hippocampus-aging-epigenome is the spoke's instance: post-mortem hippocampus, adult donors of many ages, cell populations resolved well enough to see one immune lineage replacing another between ages 50 and 75. The limit the method does not remove is that a cross-section of donors is not a time series; "replacement" is an inference across people.
