The database company behind the 768-servers explainer. PlanetScale maintains Vitess — the open-source MySQL sharding system that presents a sharded fleet as one logical database — and built Neki, the equivalent proxy router for Postgres. Its managed product packages this sharding infrastructure as a service; it recommends sharding beyond a few terabytes.

PlanetScale is the spoke’s first vendor node — the distributed-SQL / sharding stratum, as distinct from the embedded-engine maker behind turso. This page is a thin, evidence-only node (paged as the founding article’s owner); deepen it when a second PlanetScale/Vitess source arrives.
