John Wiley & Sons

Publisher of chan-algorithmic-trading, through its Wiley Trading series. Founded 1807 and, by its own front-matter boilerplate, “the oldest independent publishing company in the United States.”

Paged for one line, which the series page states as a selling point:

The Wiley Trading series features books by traders who have survived the market’s ever changing temperament and have prospered.

That is a survivorship filter stated as an editorial policy. The books in the series are by the traders it worked for; the ones it didn’t work for don’t write the books. Chan himself names survivorship bias as a backtesting pitfall two pages later (backtesting), which makes the juxtaposition worth keeping rather than scoring — the same selection effect this spoke keeps finding in strategy catalogs and self-reported returns operates one level up, on which practitioners get to publish at all.

Publisher credibility still counts for something here: a trade imprint with an editorial process and a copyright page is a different kind of object from a README, and it is why chan-algorithmic-trading tiers above most of this corpus.
