Search Off the Record
The Search Relations team’s podcast — john-mueller, martin-splitt, and colleagues talking through how Google Search actually works, from behind the scenes. It’s one of the four Search Central surfaces (docs, YouTube channel, SEO Office Hours, this podcast), and a recurring origin point for the “Google says X” facts the trade press relays.
Why it’s in the wiki
The Validate Fix guidance came from an episode of this show, not a doc — a clean example of first-party guidance arriving conversationally. That matters for provenance: podcast-sourced advice is first-party in substance but informal in form, which is exactly why SEJ’s relay of it sits at T2 rather than T1 (cf. the formal doc pages like google-search-essentials, which are T1). The show is a steady feed of the platform-authority thread from the informal end.
