Apple Messages for Business
apple‘s channel for brands to converse with customers inside Messages on Apple devices. A registered brand, an Apple-approved Messaging Service Provider, and Apple’s own review sit between a business and its customer apple-messages-for-business-docs.
The mandatory intermediary
The defining property: a brand cannot integrate directly. Qualifying for an account requires selecting an Apple-approved MSP, which supplies the messaging platform, the server-to-server integration, and typically the agent console apple-messages-for-business-docs. Where WhatsApp offers a BSP as the easier of two paths, Apple makes the equivalent role the only path.
Approval covers the conversation, not just the identity
Registration takes brand information, addresses and logos for approval. Beyond that, Apple runs an experience review of one to two weeks requiring recorded demonstrations on Apple devices, then schedules a performance review at go-live apple-messages-for-business-docs. The platform is approving how the brand will behave in the thread, which is a materially stricter gate than the per-message approval of a message-template.
Entry points are Apple’s to grant
Customers reach a brand through Messages buttons the brand places on its own surfaces, through Message Suggest (which Apple must enable for registered numbers), or through business-initiated messages via the MSP apple-messages-for-business-docs. The most valuable entry point, appearing when a customer looks the business up, is switched on by the platform rather than built by the brand.
Features named in the docs
Automated welcome and off-hours messages, quick replies, list pickers for routing and satisfaction surveys, authentication, and Apple Pay apple-messages-for-business-docs.
