Review42 — Browser Usage Statistics (2026)
Review42's analysis of StatCounter data, published 2026-07-14, data from June 2026. Tier T2 — an independent analyst reading and re-presenting a third-party measurement vendor's numbers, not a vendor speaking about itself.
What it adds: StatCounter finally breaks Brave out
statcounter-browser-share has tracked Chrome/Safari/Edge/Firefox/Samsung/Opera for this spoke since 2026-08-09, with no Brave row — Brave presented as Chrome to the sites StatCounter measures, so its traffic was invisible inside Chrome's total. This source reports that StatCounter only recently began listing Brave separately: 0.84% of global browsing across all devices, rising to 2.05% in the US — the highest figure StatCounter records for Brave in any major market, about 2.4× its worldwide share.
Read it as a floor, not a census (the source's own framing). Two biases run in the same direction: Brave's Chromium-as-Chrome disguise means some Brave users are still counted as Chrome even after the breakout, and the method counts page views, not people. Neither correction is quantified.
What this closes
brave's growth edge (no third-party usage number) now has a fourth channel, and the first one measured at the browser rather than at a package manager: homebrew-cask-analytics (macOS installs, 1.8× Edge), brave-play-store-listing (Android installs, 100M+), flathub-browser-installs (Linux installs, 2.1× Edge), and now StatCounter page-view share (0.84% global / 2.05% US). The first three all count installs on one distribution channel; this one counts actual browsing activity, which is the measurement dap-browser-share showed Brave is structurally absent from (by user-agent design) on the US federal panel. StatCounter's breakout is the first crack in that absence — not a share Brave would accept as final, but the first non-install, non-self-reported number for how much Brave is actually used, not just installed.
