openkb (VectifyAI) names him as its origin — "The idea is based on a concept described by Andrej Karpathy" — and publishes a feature-by-feature comparison against his workflow: it keeps the LLM-agent compilation step unchanged and replaces the manual parts around it (markitdown for format conversion, pageindex for documents past the context window, automatic entity extraction where his was manual, and a Skill Factory on the output side). Notably it drops his stated preference for one-source-at-a-time human-in-the-loop ingest: openkb add <dir> and openkb watch compile in batch, unattended. That is a move along the augment→automate axis the synthesis tracks, made by a tool that otherwise copies him closely.
