MusicRadar on Orphea
Ben Rogerson's MusicRadar news piece (2026-09-02) on Orphea, found on 2026-09-14 while checking orphea's claim that no source states what makes the sound. This one does, in three words: a "built-in multi-wave synth engine" — so the instrument is synthesized, not sampled, and the piano framing is the maker's, not the engine's. It also adds the specs the design-press showcase (orphea-designboom) left out: the keys are not velocity sensitive ("which will limit the amount of expression you can generate"), the range shifts three octaves up or down, there is a 3.5 mm output, "MIDI I/O" without saying over what, and a rechargeable battery of unstated capacity. Price and ship date were pending a Kickstarter. The pitch is the sketchbook again — "not a great deal of serious playing you can do with just 13 notes in front of you."
T2: a named trade-press writer with a stated limitation, working from the maker's material with no unit in hand. Still no voice count, weight, dimensions, or transport.
