ECC
"The Agent Harness Operating System" — a single-maintainer (affaan-m) coordination layer bolted onto a coding agent: "it plans before it builds, verifies changes with tests, reviews its own work from a fresh context, remembers what matters, and turns repeated wins into reusable skills and workflows." MIT, JavaScript, created 2026-01-18, homepage ecc.tools.
What it ships
- 68 agents — specialized workers for planning, review, security, build repair, architecture.
- 284 skills — reusable workflows (TDD, research, security, docs, frontend, ML, ops); the README frames a 94-command slash-command surface as mid-migration to this skills-first model, the same skills-over-commands direction as superpowers and superclaude-framework.
- AgentShield — a security scanner for agent configs: 1,282 tests, 102 rules.
- Memory Vault — cross-harness persistent context stored as plain Markdown.
- Hooks for runtime automation/enforcement, plus named extras (Plan Canvas for browser-based plan review, a Skill Creator that derives workflows from git history).
Distribution
One documented install method per harness — a native plugin for Claude Code
(/plugin install ecc@ecc), a native marketplace entry for Codex, and targeted
install.sh --target runs for Cursor, OpenCode, Gemini CLI, Zed, Antigravity, Qwen, Hermes,
OpenClaw, Kimi Code, CodeBuddy, JoyCode, GitHub Copilot — one of the broadest harness lists in
this spoke, on par with superpowers's cross-harness marketplace reach. The README warns against
stacking install methods ("can duplicate skills, commands, hooks, or configuration") and against
unofficial mirrors — "install ECC only from verified channels" (GitHub repo, official npm, GitHub
App, ecc.tools).
Adoption claim — flagged
GitHub's API puts this repo at 240,127 stars / 36,445 forks (checked live 2026-08-14), reached in under seven months from a 2026-01-18 creation date by one maintainer. That first looked close to superpowers's already-flagged ≈242,000 stars — but that figure was a 2026-06 snapshot; checked live the same day as ECC, superpowers has grown to 272,113, putting the two about 32,000 stars apart, not near-identical. The two counts are still each individually extraordinary for a single/small-maintainer niche pack at this age, and both stay flagged as dated and volatile numbers to re-verify — just not as one shared anomaly. Neither should be read as evidence of adoption comparable to lower-starred, more conventionally-grown entries like ruflo (67.1k★) or jcode (13.1k★).
Caveats
- Release 2.2.0's guided setup is "coming soon" — the current npm release (2.1.0) ships without it.
- "Multi-model commands require additional setup" — the
/multi-*commands need a separateccg-workflowruntime. - No evaluation or benchmark numbers in the README; all counts (agents/skills/commands/tests/rules) are self-reported.
