The data behind that paper is his institution’s: 665 undergraduates at HSE’s International College of Economics and Finance predicting their own statistics-exam grades across four cohorts, 2016–2019. That the sample is one school’s economics students on one exam is the paper’s main unstated limitation, alongside its silence on the 1999 training experiment.
