Claude Code weekly-limits promotion (May–Aug 2026)
An Anthropic support-center notice: a temporary +50% boost to Claude Code’s
weekly usage allowance, running May 13 – Aug 19 2026 (through 11:59 PM PT). It applies
automatically — no enrollment — to Pro, Max, Team, and legacy seat-based Enterprise
plans; Free and consumption-based Enterprise get nothing. The boost is scoped to
Claude Code only, everywhere it runs (CLI, IDE extensions, desktop, web); other Claude
products are untouched. Crucially, the 5-hour usage limits are not affected — only the
weekly cap moves. After Aug 19 limits revert with no billing/plan change; the offer “has
no cash value,” isn’t transferable, and can’t be combined with other offers. Users check
their allowance with /usage in the CLI.
Why it matters here
This is a small, dated promo, but it names the rationing knob behind the subscription harness: Claude Code meters on two independent limits — a 5-hour window and a weekly cap — and the weekly cap is the one Anthropic dials. That the promo lifts only the weekly cap tells you which limit is the binding constraint for heavy users, and that it’s a lever Anthropic can move for competitive/goodwill reasons without touching price or the short-window throttle.
It also reads as the inverse of the earlier friction: the anthropic-agent-sdk-billing-pause pause and the “tighter usage limits” complaints were the harness-as-product cost/UX tension biting one way; a temporary limit boost is Anthropic leaning the other way. The subscription model’s limits are clearly a managed, adjustable surface, not a fixed spec — the same cost-structure story boris-cherny framed for the claude-agent-sdk, and the consumer-plan counterpart to the enterprise spend-cap controls in claude-apps-gateway.
Provenance & tier
First-party Anthropic support doc — T2, and a deliberately ephemeral one: the whole artifact is a time-boxed promotion (expires Aug 19 2026). The durable takeaways are the two-tier limit structure (5-hour + weekly) and the weekly cap as the adjustable lever; the +50% figure and the dates are the perishable part.
