arXiv

The open e-print archive, operated by Cornell University. This spoke's first source published there: grinberg-graph-theory is arXiv:2308.04512, in math.HO (History and Overview) with a secondary listing in math.CO (Combinatorics).

What it supplies that the other channels here do not is a version history with dates on it. The graph theory text has three: v1 on 2 August 2023, v2 on 7 November 2024, v3 on 8 June 2025. A personal web page shows only the current file, and a publisher shows only the current edition; arXiv keeps the earlier ones addressable. For a wiki that has to answer "what did this say when we read it," that is a different kind of durability from a stable URL.

The three publishing routes now held here, and what each gives up:

Route Example What it fixes What it loses
Publisher springer, mit-press Editing, review, an ISBN Access, and often the licence
Personal or department page lawrence-baggett, university-of-chicago Free, revisable at will Version history, and the URL dies with the job
Preprint archive arXiv Dated versions, permanent identifier, licence stated at deposit Review — deposit is not acceptance

That last one is the caveat to carry: arXiv is not peer review. The T1 grade on grinberg-graph-theory rests on it being the author's own primary text with an errata channel and three revisions, not on where it is deposited. A math.HO listing means the moderators judged it expository, and nothing more.

arXiv also carries ancillary files with a submission — Grinberg uses this for the extra course materials that would otherwise sit only on his university page.
