Darij Grinberg

Mathematician at drexel-university (Korman Center, Philadelphia), working in algebraic combinatorics; author of grinberg-graph-theory. Discovered while ingesting that text.

He taught the course it comes from as Math 530 at Drexel in Spring 2022, and an earlier version of the same material at the University of Minnesota in Spring 2017 — the older course page is still up and carries solutions to some exercises the arXiv text prints without them.

Two things set him apart from the other authors in this spoke.

The licence. He released the book under CC0 1.0 Universal, a public-domain dedication that does not even require attribution. Everyone else here who chose a free licence chose one that asks for something back: GFDL (thomas-judson, michael-corral), CC BY-SA (jim-hefferon), CC BY-NC (h-jerome-keisler, william-trench, michael-herzog), CC BY 4.0 (luca-mari and co-authors). CC0 gives up the copyright itself.

The web address. His institutional address is Drexel; the URL printed on the title page, and the one hosting both course sites, is cip.ifi.lmu.de/~grinberg — university webspace in Munich, kept across at least three institutions. Compare lawrence-baggett, whose text sits on a Colorado tilde URL that has not moved since 2006. A personal directory outlives the affiliation, which is a small argument for the arxiv copy being the one to cite.

He asks for corrections by email "(however small)" and credits four people by name for finding errors in earlier versions, alongside three colleagues he says he learned from. Three arXiv versions in two years is the maintenance pattern he shares with thomas-judson and jim-hefferon.
