Tero Harju
Finnish mathematician, Professor emeritus and Research Director in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Turku; author of [[harju-graph-theory|Lecture Notes on Graph Theory]]. Discovered while ingesting that text, and his homepage (checked 2026-08-30) is the source for everything on this page.
His stated research areas are combinatorics on words, automata and decidability, graph theory, and DNA combinatorics and computing — so the graph theory notes come from a combinatorialist rather than from a specialist in the subject, which fits how they read: an efficient tour of the standard results with the algebraic and algorithmic sides handed to other books.
The homepage lists a run of other course notes in the same shape — Geometria, semigroups, combinatorial enumeration, combinatorial structures, algebra, ordered sets — and three books, including one on 2-structures and one in the Lothaire series on combinatorics on words. A Graph Theory (Spring 2018) course is listed, six years after the last year on the notes' title page, so the material outlived the date range printed on it.
No Wikipedia or Wikidata entry was found for him, so this page carries his homepage as its
identifier rather than a same-as.
