Fabian-Xosé Fernandez

Associate professor of psychology and neurology at the university-of-arizona, and a faculty member of its Center for Sleep, Circadian and Neuroscience Research. PhD in neurosciences, Stanford, 2008; joined Arizona in 2015 after work at Johns Hopkins and in industry.

Second author of tubbs-mind-after-midnight-2022 and co-lead investigator on the NIMH study (mind-after-midnight-nimh-grant). His stated claim for that study is the one this corpus should watch: that it is "the first study of mood, neuropsychological function, and suicidality that probes both biological rhythmical and regulatory factors" — and that the risk it targets is modifiable, which is what would turn the hypothesis into a treatment rather than a description.

His earlier work is on circadian dysrhythmia and memory, and on pharmacological treatment for the intellectual disability accompanying Down syndrome.
