Wanja Wolff
Sport and performance psychologist; professor of Human Movement Science, University of Hamburg (previously Konstanz and Bern), leading the Dynamics of Human Performance Regulation Laboratory. Works with maik-bieleke on effort, boredom and self-control as signals that guide behavior — an alternative to the older "ego depletion" strength model of willpower — and co-authored, with james-danckert and Bieleke, "A Primer on the Role of Boredom in Self-Controlled Sports and Exercise Behavior" (Frontiers in Psychology, 2021). Also co-wrote a chapter on neuroscientific approaches to self-regulation in sport with Amitai Shenhav — michael-inzlicht's co-author on the effort paradox, an indirect connection between the two research threads the-joy-of-writing draws on separately.
Cited alongside Bieleke in the-joy-of-writing for the AI-writing-homogenization claim; see maik-bieleke for why that citation could not be verified from this spoke.
