John Eastwood
Clinical psychologist, Associate Professor and Associate Chair of the Department of Psychology at York University, Toronto; principal investigator of the Boredom Lab there. Earned his PhD at university-of-waterloo — the same institution where his co-author james-danckert now holds a faculty position. Defines boredom as "wanting, but being unable, to engage in satisfying activity," and compares it to pain: a signal worth listening to rather than a malfunction.
Co-author with Danckert of Out of My Skull: The Psychology of Boredom (Harvard University Press, 2020) — the book named in Danckert's disclosure as used by anthropic to train models without permission. Shares the Modern Boredom Psychology Today contributor page with Danckert, though this particular piece carries Danckert's byline alone.
