Akai Professional
Akai Professional is the instrument brand behind the MPC (“Music Production Center”) line of samplers, sequencers, and grooveboxes — the format it is most identified with. The modern MPC family spans compact standalone boxes up to keyboard workstations; the MPC One G2 (2026) is the current second-generation standalone One.
The MPC lineage dates to the late-1980s Akai/Roger Linn sampling drum machines that became foundational hardware for hip-hop and electronic production. Today Akai Professional is part of inMusic Brands.

Akai is the spoke’s first sampler / groovebox maker — a workstation vendor whose product integrates sampling, sequencing, and plugin hosting in one box, distinct from the boutique-synth (analogue-solutions, cyma-forma) and free-plugin (audio-damage, tilr) makers already here.
