Audio Damage ShinRonin

A modular delay-and-filter effect plugin from audio-damage, first released in 2003, discontinued in 2009, and now rebuilt from the ground up and re-released as freeware — no trial, DRM, or activation. It is software, not hardware: an audio-effect-plugin you load in a DAW.

Modular effect architecture

The distinguishing feature is a modular patch matrix wrapped around otherwise-ordinary building blocks: two delays, two filters, two saturation units, and modulation sources that can be wired together in a modular way rather than a fixed linear chain. That patchability is the same organizing idea as filtopia‘s parallel filterbank and polyuanalog‘s conductor-voice layout — routing, not raw components, is where the character lives.

Blocks

  • Two delays emulating older digital and tape units — syncable, loopable, reversible.
  • Morphing filters that transition across highpass / bandpass / lowpass.
  • Two saturation units for harmonic enhancement.
  • Dual syncable LFOs and an envelope follower; patchable audio and modulation matrices.
  • Master dry/wet and stereo controls.

Availability

macOS (Apple Silicon/Intel), Linux, and Windows as VST3 / AU / CLAP, plus iPad/iOS as AUv3. Vendor announcement via Synth Anatomy → T3.
