Behringer CS Mini

The Behringer CS Mini is a 3-voice paraphonic portable analog synth inspired by the Yamaha CS-80 (the classic 1970s polysynth), reported by Synth Anatomy (Tom, 2026-07-23) as “around the corner” after surfacing in Behringer’s Synthtribe software v3.2.2. Pre-release: no official launch date, and the oft-quoted price is a ~$99 estimate, not a confirmed figure — treat specs as leaked/rumored.

What’s reported

• 3 voices, paraphonic (voices share one filter/envelope path, not fully independent — see below), with a motion-recording sequencer.
• Three oscillators (saw / square / sine), a sub-oscillator with PWM, noise, and a ring modulator (plus a ring-mod “poly mode”).
• Lowpass filter (resonant) and a separate highpass filter (resonant, with modulation) — the dual LPF/HPF layout is the nod to the CS-80’s twin-filter voice.
• ADSR envelope plus an AR envelope that doubles as an LFO.
• Touch keyboard, MIDI, USB-C.

Why it’s here

Two threads. First, it drops a marker on the analog-vs-digital axis from a direction the spoke hadn’t sourced: not boutique all-analog (analogue-solutions, cyma-forma) and not a DIY kit (korg Nu:Tekt), but the budget mass-market analog clone — Behringer‘s whole model of rebuilding a revered, once-unaffordable instrument (a real CS-80 is a five-figure vintage machine) as a sub-$100 mini. If the price holds, “analog” stops being the premium tier here and becomes the cheap one, which cuts against the boutique-analog framing the spoke’s analog pages carry.

Second, paraphonic ≠ polyphonic, and the distinction matters for the synthesizer page’s voice model: three oscillators routed through shared filter/amp stages give you three notes at once but one collective tone-shaping path — the compromise that makes cheap “polyphony” possible, and the honest asterisk on the “3-voice CS-80” pitch (the CS-80 itself was fully polyphonic and per-voice).

Caveats

Pre-announcement (spotted in companion software, not officially launched); the spec list and $99 price are unconfirmed and volatile. T3 recurring source (synth-anatomy), editorial but relaying a leak.
