Korg NTS-4 (DIY performance mixer)

A palm-sized, six-channel analog performance mixer sold as a self-assembly kit — the fourth entry in Korg‘s Nu:Tekt DIY line (NTS-1/2/3 before it), announced July 2026 via AudioTechnology. It’s built to sit at the center of a hybrid hardware rig — volca units, NTS instruments, desktop synths, and Eurorack modular gear — mixing up to ten audio signals in a box that assembles “in minutes.”

What it is

• Channels: four stereo 3.5mm inputs + two mono 3.5mm inputs that are Eurorack-level compatible, with a switchable line/Eurorack attenuator on the mono pair — so a modular rig patches in directly, no interface box. Stereo SEND/RETURN for outboard FX; MAIN L/R on unbalanced ¼” jacks; 3.5mm headphone out.
• Performance controls: every channel has CUE (private pre-listen to headphones before it hits the main mix) and MUTE (instant cut). Those two are what make it a performance mixer — cueing transitions the room can’t hear — rather than a passive summing box.
• Two FX engines at once: a per-channel SEND FX (delay, ping-pong delay, two hall reverbs, two slap reverbs, chorus) for spatial depth, plus a master TOTAL FX on the main bus (LPF, HPF, isolator, flanger, phaser, decimator, drive, distortion, compressor, limiter) to shape the whole mix.
• Computer/DAW: USB-C carries power and audio (48 kHz / 24-bit) to Mac/PC/mobile — record or stream a set straight to a phone. A 3.5mm TRS MIDI OUT routes DAW MIDI back to hardware.
• Build: steel chassis, 3-digit 7-segment LED, 195×125×38 mm, 613 g; USB bus power or a 9V adapter (sold separately). Price not stated in the source; available from 10 July 2026.

Why it matters here

Two firsts, one growth-edge hit. It’s the spoke’s first mixer — a gear class whose entire value is signal flow, not sound generation, so it’s the purest instance of the routing-is-the- product through-line. It’s also the second DIY/self-assembly instrument after polyuanalog, but from a major maker’s kit line rather than an academic open-hardware project. And it’s the first source to touch the Eurorack edge the spoke keeps flagging: not a modular instrument itself, but a purpose-built integration point for one (Eurorack-level inputs with an attenuator). The “analogue” mixer path with two digital FX engines also makes it a small analog/digital hybrid, not a pure-analog device.
